Welcome
to the SCRC website! We are the premiere Republican
club for Greater Los Angeles and Southern California!
We started in 2004 and we're still going strong.
However,
some would say that it's not exactly the best
time to be a Republican. We lost control of
Congress last November, other than two offices
we lost all statewide elective offices in California,
and many would say that even the behavior of
our "Republican" Governor resembles
that of a Democrat.
Furthermore,
we have a President and Senate Republican leadership
who seem pathological about the passing of an
immigration bill that our Republican base is
firmly against. Politically these "leaders"
aren't just shooting themselves in the foot
but in the head!
Is
Republicanism on the decline? Well, of course
not.
The
Republican Party has always had a special calling
despite the challenges - to advance the founding
principles of freedom and limited government
and the dignity and worth of every individual.
We
are the Old Republican Party that was the anti-slavery
Party, the pro-women's voting rights Party;
and the anti-segregation Party. We are the New
Republican Party that will revitalize our communities;
empower and uplift our city; and make both Los
Angeles and all of California a Republican majority.
As
President Ronald Reagan articulated so well,
our principles also include the safety of Americans
everywhere and the security of our great nation.
At time it was a War on Communism, before that
it was a War on Fascism, and now it is a War
on Terrorism.
Our
Republican leaders have to reconnect with our
core Republican values and govern with solid
Republican principles. And its up to us -- the
Republican base -- to make sure that they do
so.
Last
November, should be a lesson to all of us that
you take nothing for granted. Let's not only
remember our Republican historical roots but
let's move from talk to action!
SCRC
is getting "back to basics".
It
will be an exciting year for all of us as we
continue to grow the organization, increase
our public profile and have a lot of fun along
the way. Enjoy another great line-up of speakers
this year and please do get involved with our
committees, events, and projects. I look forward
to working with everyone this year.
Yes, it is up to each and every Republican to
bring about a New Republican Movement. Let's
get busy!
